“ My go to spot for Asian veggies! It's hectic and you WILL get pushed by at least one auntie (eh it was my fault for being in her way I guess, auntie was on a mission) Try to go earlier in the morning- they will have the freshest produce then. They carry a lot of Asian vegetables (beyond your usual bok chop and mustard greens) and you can also just pack however much mung bean sprouts into a bag (it's priced by weight). Really great selection- for a lot of the green veggies, they are already bagged up so if you want loose vegetables, you can ask them for that. Besides produce, they have a wide away of pantry/dry goods- sauces, noodles, spices, you name it. Take some time to wander the long aisles, they carry lots of different ingredients from across Asia. I've never bought fish/meat from them but it looks well stocked and fresh. Credit card fee applies if your purchase is less than $8. ”

“ Hong Kong Supermarket on Hester Street is convenient and easy to shop at. It's very popular and usually crowded but they keep most items well stocked & easy to find. I usually buy the frozen Har Gow and store it in my freezer for days when I can't make it to a local Dim Sum restaurant. This market has an incredible selection (see photos) - most of the stuff is upstairs but the lower level has pots, plates and a loose tea section that I love. I used to run all over Chinatown looking for various teas and dumplings - and while that may be more fun, it's freezing cold right now. I've always loved Chinatown; I've been going here since I was a kid when I'd chase down all the cool toys in the small shops and markets. ”

“ I go to HK for fresh veggies. Good selection of Asian veggies like bok choy garlic chives Lilith bulbs. They have every kind of sauce, oils, vinegars. If you use any kind of Asian ingredients they likely will have it most of the cashiers are great except this one older woman. I avoid her ”

“ I've been a handful of times. There is a lower level that has a cool red and white checkered floor. Tons of pocky, tons of noodles. The place can get a tad busy sometimes but its worth it. ”

“ This sizable Hester St. Hong Kong Supermarket is a great place to shop in Chinatown, especially for some deals! The fresh and live seafood section is particularly impressive. If you're looking for fresh fruits and vegetables, especially exotic ones, you'll likely find them here all in one place. They also offer a wide range of cookies and candies, teas, condiments, packaged dried ingredients, and other shelf-stable items. Be sure to also explore the lower level, especially if you don't see something at the street level! ”

“ Pretty average Chinese grocery store in the center of Chinatown that is surprisingly big since it's two stories with the basement inside. Reminds me of Super 88 in Boston. They don't really have super big deals, and are not that much cheaper than 99 Ranch. There's a wide selection of Asian snacks and they even have frozen dim sum items like shrimp har gao which is slightly below market price. ”

“ Affordable produce in a clean store! I came here for water and came out with a gallon of Poland Soring Water for $2.49. Also two quarts of strawberries for $1!!! My favorite grocery store ever!!! I spoke English and all the store employees understood me. No credit card if under $10, so I am glad I brought cash to Flushings because cash is king here! ”

“ This place brings back so many memories of the Asian supermarkets back in CA. Full of Asian produce (bok choy, Japanese squash, white radish, etc) and aisles upon aisles of spices, oils, noodles/rice, snacks and frozen goods. Even the crowd reminds me of home - barely anyone speaks English and everyone ignores me :) I have to remember to bring bigger shopping bags. It's great to stock up on everything you need for Asian recipes that you can't find at Whole Foods / Morton Williams for a fraction of the price. ”

“ First impressions: Typical for any Asian market in Chinatown... reminds me of when I used to go grocery shopping with my mom in Little Saigon (Cali) when I was little. Was greeted with a little bit of nostalgia as well as the usual sights and sounds of an Asian market. It's pretty clean and brightly lit...The veggies were being packed out of the boxes and they looked fresh and ready to go. Love coming here for my bokchoys, chinese broccoli, fresh watercress, Thai basil, bean sprouts, chilis, etc etc Anything you want, you will find here The Noms: Food is always fresh and convenient whether you are getting a cut of pork belly at the butcher's section, or "exotic" (read, can't find at the local Whole Foods) fruits and vegetables. I also love their snack section... though lately it doesn't have the selection I'm used to seeing from years ago... could be pandemic related supply chain issues. I also love their frozen foods/refridgerated section for quick eats (dumplings, tofu, etc etc) In Conclusion: One of my favorite spots to do all my shopping. Usually has everything I need. The only pain in the butt I forgot to mention is their ramen/instant noodle section sucks. I like the Mi Goreng noodles and the Mi Mama (tom yum flavor) noodles and they are almost always out of stock (even pre-pandemic) so for those items I am always having to go somewhere else to find. ”
